GlucaPharm Acquisition
GlucaPharm Inc. was acquired by SureNano Science Ltd. (CSE: SURE, OTCQB: SURNF) in February 2026 (refer to press release) and is developing next-generation glucagon-like peptide (GLP) candidate GEP-44 in partnership with Syracuse University for obesity and metabolic disease.
Originally discovered by Dr. Robert Doyle and Syracuse University, GEP-44 is a novel monomeric peptide multi-agonist targeting GLP-1 and NPY receptors, with delivery potential across oral, sublingual, and nasal formats.
In preclinical studies, GEP-44 has shown efficacy in weight loss and glucose control that is directionally comparable to Ozempic®, with an improved tolerability profile.
Syracuse University research has been supported in part by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other U.S. entities. GEP-44 is covered by patent-protected monomeric multi-agonist work targeting GLP-1 and NPY receptors (U.S. Patent Application 20220204581A1), with protection through 2042, and is exclusively licensed from Syracuse University as a second-generation GLP opportunity.
